Drummer Boy

Justin Bieber came out with his first Christmas album "Under the Mistletoe". It was released on November 1, 2011 as his second studio album, Island records produced his album. The songs in his album are, "Only Thing I Ever Get For Christmas", "Mistletoe", "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting  on an Open Fire)" Ft. Usher, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", "Fa La La" Ft. Boyz II Men, "All I Want for Christmas Is You (Super Festive)" Duet with Mariah Carey, "Drummer Boy" Ft. Busta Rhymes, "Christmas Eve", "All I Want Is You", "Home This Christmas" Ft. The Band Perry, and lastly "Silent Night". Justin Bieber showcases his rapping skills as well as his skills on playing the drums. This song lets you listen to Beiber's more matured voice although even though it came out about a year ago, when I hear this song it makes me think of the young Justin. Or at least before he came out with his album, "Believe".
I think that this song is just a fun song to listen to during the holidays. It is an upbeat club version of the original yuletide standard, "The Little Drummer Boy". Justin Bieber also gives this song an edge with a verse like, "Yeah, I’m on the drum/ I'm on the snare drum/ Yeah, I'm on the beat/ 'Cause the beat goes dum/ I only spare heat 'cause I’m playing for the son/ Playing for king/ Playing for the title/ I'm surprised you didn’t hear it in the Bible." Also, Busta Rhymes adds to it with his lyrics being so practical. It really steps the song up a notch.

                                          50 Ways To Say Goodbye

American pop rock band Train came out with "50 Ways to Say Goodbye" on June 11, 2012. It is recorded in their sixth studio album "California 37". "50 Ways to Say Goodbye" is classified as Pop rock, Latin pop, and folk rock. It has become the bands most successful second single release and peaked at number 20 on the Hot 100. The song was also certified gold by the RIAA on Sep. 20, 2012.
I really enjoy this song because i'ts a funny, happy song that is just so easy to look at you. It utilizes electric guitars and includes a marachi band. It something most people can relate to but at the same time kepps the person intune and focosed on the song. It can also, turn a sad situation into something you can look back at and laugh. If you listen to this song you will most likely at least tap your foot.

Don't You Worry Child

On September 14, 2012, Swedish came out with their new single. The song was called "Don't You Worry Child". It was released as digital download and is the single for Swedish House Mafia's last tour. It's genre is Progressive Rock. It received a Grammy Nomination for Best Dance Recording in the 2013 Grammy Awards. It also, made #1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Songs Chart. The Song is VERY popular in Australia and also popular in Sweden, Scotland, and U.K.
I'm very surprised that this song has become this popular in the United States. This song is based on Australia and It's beauty and how they will miss it because like I already said this is their last tour. I personally like the back track and I think that the chorus is in a way catchy. I guess other people like this song too and that's why it is getting to become very popular.

"A Team"

Ed Sheeran came out with "The A Team" on June 12, 2011. It was released to digital download. The album that it is in is called "+". The genre of this song is Indie Folk and Soul. This song was actually written mostly when he had just gotten back from a gig at a homeless shelter at the age of 18.
This song was origanally from the U.K. and is just starting to become popular in the U.S. You may have already heard it playing on radio stations. This is actually my best friends favorite song right now but I decided to blog about it because I feel like this is a very beautiful song and can also be very emotional to certain mature listeners. This song has two hidden meanings. The first one is kind of obvious. You just have to listen to the lyrics. The second meaning requires you to have the definition of "A Team".

Thanksgiving

Did everyone enjoy their Thanksgiving? I surely did and I hope you did too. For this blog post I am going to teach you a little bit about the History of Thanksgiving.
In Britain, citizens were getting jailed and fined for practicing religon that was different from the official, original one. A deal was formed in 1619 with a london company. The citezens could sail to America to form a New England Colony. They hired two ships the Mayflower that was very large, and the Speedywell that was small. The Speddywell had a problem so the Mayflower had to fit all the passengers. There were 102 passengers on that ship including kids and wives. Some wanted freedom in their religon and some wanted work and better lives. In September of 1620 the Mayflower left England and started to sail the ocean blue. Halfway along the trip there were awful winds and storms. On the 66 day journey, two folks died and one was born. They reached land in November of 1920 which was too far north in winter weather. They wrote the Mayflower Compact in agreement to stick together. They called the new land Plymouth and chose it to be where they settled. They stayed on the ship during the winter and which caused many passengers to die. By the time spring had rolled around only half the amount of people who boarded the ship back in England had survived. These are the people that today we call, "Pilgrims".That became the start of the United States of America that we now know today.
Now every November we celebrate a holiday named, Thanksgiving. We eat feasts and remember the people who rode the Mayflower and started Plymouth Rock. After the death of the many pilgrims, the colonists decided to form a friendship with the neighboring Wamponag tribe. They taught them how to fish, hunt, and plant. By the time of autaumn 1621, the colonists had collected enough food to feed the community throughout the whole coming up winter season. The colonists and the Wampanog joined together in a 3 day feast in honor of their bounty. The feast probably did not include many of of the thanksgiving dishes that we eat today, including turkey. More likely they dined on roast goose. Along with corn, codfish, and lobster. In 1997 the Continental Congress declared that each of the 13 colonies celebrate a day of Thanksgiving as a national holiday because of the Victory at Saratoga. The governer of each colony would pick the day of Thanksgiving. This day could vary from weeks to even months. This day would be to celebrate plentiful harvests, victorious battles, and or the end of droughts. Sara Josepha Hale wanted the nation to have one day in which ALL the colonies celebrated Thanksgiving. In 1863, four months after the Victory at Gettysburg, Abraham Lincoln declared the last Thursday of November to be Thanksgiving Day. Today Thanksgiving is a very important holiday. Most importantly, It is about remebering your family and friends and being thankful.

Thinking Bout You

On April 17, 2012 Frank Ocean came out with his song, "Thinking Bout You". It is from his debut studio album, "Channel Orange". "Thinking Bout You" is the lead single for this album. It's genre is as R&B. Lastly, Def Jam is the label that "Thinking Bout You" is under.
"Thinking Bout You" is somewhat popular and has gotten good reveiws but isn't really a fan favorite. Although, It is fairly new to the radio stations who are playing the song. I on the other hand, absolutly adore this song. I think it is very smooth and relaxing. It also has a good meaning and is something enjoyable to sing if you rate it based on just listening to the song rather than looking into it. It has a jazzy sort of vibe to it but not really in the different versews. Frank than goes into a very high R&B tone for the chorus of, "Cause I've Been Thinking Bout You".

I will not link the music video because in my opinion it is a little odd and to be honest, I don't fully understand it. There might be a meaning or an action that is shown or describrd in the music video that is inappropiate.

"Primadonna"

On March 20, 2012, Marina and the Diamonds came out with her highest-charting single in the U.K., "Primadonna". It is in her second album, "Electra Heart". It's a fun song that is classified as Electro Rock, House, and Disco. She got relatively good reviews although, some said that her tone and pitch were totally off but I disagree. Also, "Primadonna" did well in New Zealand and Ireland but wasn't very popular in the United States.
I could listen to this song all day if I had to. I absolutly love how she sings with this beautiful high voice and then gets into this retro tune. The lyrics have meaning to them, which I always think is great, and are catchy. This song is played in clubs and mainly on the radio.

"Let Me Love You"

Neyo came out with his fourth number one single in the U.K., "Let Me Love You". It's genre is Europop and Synthpop. It is in Neyo's fifth album "R.E.D. (Realising Every Dream)" and was released on July 22, 2012. "Let Me Love You" played on the  rythmic/crossover radio stations on July 31st and on the pop/mainstream stations a week later. Internationally, "Let Me Love You" is the sole lead single for the album.
It's true that this song came out a while ago but I frequently still here it on the radio. It's an up-tempo song and is something you would want to dance to. It has a constant beat throughout the whole song. But, Neyo changes his tune throughout the song. He starts out with a smooth jazzy voice and then raises his pitch once the tempo speeds up. It's a song that once you hear once, you'll want to hear again.

"Turn My Swag On"

The song, "Turn My Swag On" is one of my favorites. It is Hip Hop, Snap, and Crunk&B, which is a mix of crunk music and R&B. It is from his third album "SouljaBoy Tellem" and was released on January 26, 2009. The song charted #19 on the US Rap Charts Hot 100 and sold over 1,000,000 digital downloads in the U.S. so far. The original version ft. just Soulja Boy. Then there's an official remix which ft. Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne. There are also a lot of unofficial remixes ou there. There remixes are from artists like, R. Kelly, Yung L.A., Jim Jones, Jadakiss, Rochelle Perts, Maino, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Chingo Bling, Gucci Mane, Busta Rhymes, Keri Hilson, Teairra Mari, Tyga and Chamillionaire. I particularilly love the version from Keri Hilson.
Keri Hilson's version was actually covered by Cher Lloyd on the X Factor in the UK. She auditioned and preformed during the seventh season along with 1D or One Direction. Keri Hilson has another remix that features Lil Kim and Teyana Taylor. This version has a different autotune and the lyrics are also partly different. I personally just love Cher's cover which is the original remix with only Keri Hilson. Cher has a higher pitch and is not as soulful as Keri. She also has a bit more attitude and edge to he voice which I feel is better for the song.

"Down"

This song is from the British artist Jay Sean ft. the American rapper Lil Wayne made number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It is R&B, dance, electric, and hiphop and is in his album, "All Or Nothing". It is Jay Seamn's first album in the U.S. and third in the U.K. It sold four million copies in America and six million copies all over the world. That's 2/3 copies sold in the United States.
I love to listen to this song. Partly, because it camre out when I was younger and at thatt time it played on the radio all the time. It reminds me of my childhood. I know this sounds weird because I'm not even a teenager yet but I guess what I'm trying to say is that it reminds of my baby-stage days, now that I'm in middle school. Secondly, I like this song for the same reason as everybody else. IT'S A GOOD SONG!!! Sometimes that's all there is to it to a hit single. People just like the song. Between Jay Sean's sweet voice and Lil Wayne's raspy rapping, I fell it's a very strange but unique and complimenting match.

Song of the Day

Super Bass

Nicki Manaj came out with her hit single "Super Bass" on May of 2011. The song's genre is classified as electric and pop, although her rapping is classified as hip hop. It is in her first album"Pink Friday". It started on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 as number 98 and went all the way down to number 3. It got generally good reviews from critics on how it had a catchy best going, "Boom badoom boom, boom badoom boom ayy, you got that super bass."
I like this song because of it's 128 beats per minute tempo. It's a fast song but it slows down at times, balancing the song out. Also, when Nicki raps she isn't to fast that you can't understand what she's saying. She's slow enough that you can understand what your saying but fast enough that it's still a rap. When she raps she gets into it and changes her voice and rhythm to operate the song and control your your emotion.
Unfortunately, I can't link the music video to the song due to inappropriate scenes and language.
I can, although, I can link a cover of this song. To listen/watch this please click on this link go to Youtube and search "Super Bass Karmin" and click the first one that comes up. Make sure you don't click an ad (ther is a problem with my computer and I am unable to post a link).

Song of the Day

You Belong With Me

The one and only Taylor Swift came out with, "You Belong With Me" on April 21, 2009 as her third single in the album, "Fearless". It is a pop country song and has done so well. All in all it's probably had over 50 awards, covers (celebrities), and debutes on music charts. Taylor also got many good reviews on her music video for "You Belong With Me", having it shown many times on music video channels. Also, Taylor preformed this song for many live shows and concerts.
I love to listen to this song because it tells a true story. It talks about Taylor and how she's in love with this boy but how he's falling for this popular girl. The music video explain everything and is more like a storyline compare to just scenes of Taylor just singing. This song is just a fun pop song but has relaxed background music giving it that country vibe. It's also a great song to play when your just lounging around to help you get up and going/moving.

Song of the Day

Crash Your Party

Karmin, the musical duo came out with "Crash Your Party" released on October 20, 2011 and was released to digital download on October 24, 2011. It's classified as pop, pop rock, and hip hop. By late 2011, "Crash Your Party" was being frequently played on radio stations. It recieved moderate success and charted #36 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. The duo felt it was a perfect choice for a first single by how they were introduced to the buisness through the fans, they were crashing the (music) industry's party.
This is a great song to play at parties because firstly, it's about crashing a party! Of course you don't want anyone crashing your party but you can still play it at one. This song has an up-beat vibe and is in a way calm. Now once you listen to this song you will be like, "Priya, what are you talking about this song is definietly not calm?" because again the song is up-beat. But if you think about it, this song isn't really as energetic as her other songs. I'm not saying that this song isn't energetic but when you listen to this song, and then listen to other Karmin songs, and then compare them, you will start to think about "Crash Your Party" in these ways.

Song of the day

Best Thing I Never Have

The song, "Best  Thing I Never Had" came out on June 1, 2011. It is from her forth studio album "4" produced by Columbia Records. It is a mix of R&B and pop and actually had a remix done by Lil Jon and DJ Kontrol. It did pretty well overall. It got good reviews, listed high on the national music charts, and preformed for many live shows and concerts. The song is about Beyonce' and her ex-lover. It talks about how she was in love but then ended it because she was not receiving the attention she deserved. The music video shows how she is much happier now with a new man.
I enjoy listening to this song because of the melody and the sadness/strength in Beyonce''s voice. She stars out real soft  and then slowly just gets into it. This is a great strategy if you want your singing to have that oomph to it. It prevents you from being obnoxious. Also, I believe that that splash of gospel that's in the song just really adds to the song by both listening to it and interpreting it.
To listen to a cover of this song click on this link, (P.S. I could not link an audio of the song because of foul language) http://www.youtube.com/embed/ktvAuQUJhb4?rel=0.

Song of the Day

Don't Wake Me Up

Chris Brown came out with his hit song, "Don't Wake me up" on May 18, 2012. This dance-pop song became so popular all over the world. It received generally positive reviews from music critics and reached the top-ten in Australia, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Noway, and the United Kingdom. It also, reached top-twenty in Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and both regions of Belgium and has so far reached 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This song is from his fifth studio album "Fortune".
This song, I believe is so popular because it has a repetitive chorus and features a heavy bass. I personally enjoy listening this song because (A) it's something that is catchy and that I can sing along to, (B) because it's something I can dance to, and (C) the beat of this song is really fun and the pop with the heavy bass in it is really in right now. In the beginning, I really didn't care for this song but then it just got so popular with it on the radio all the time, getting over 40,000,000 views on YouTube, and just always hearing people humming to it. Now I listen to it all the time and am always singing along whether the song is being played or not.

Lyric Interpretations

Man in the Mirror

Man in the Mirror Lyrics

I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .

As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favorite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs
A Summer's Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man's Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know
'Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go
That's Why I Want You To
Know

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could've
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah

I've Been A Victim Of A Selfish
Kind Of Love
It's Time That I Realize
That There Are Some With No
Home, Not A Nickel To Loan
Could It Be Really Me,
Pretending That They're Not
Alone?

A Willow Deeply Scarred,
Somebody's Broken Heart
And A Washed-Out Dream
(Washed-Out Dream)
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya' See
Cause They Got No Place
To Be
That's Why I'm Starting With
Me

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Ooh!)
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
whoa!

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change His
Ways
(Change His Ways-Ooh!)
And No Message Could've
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .)
Change!

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror,
(Man In The Mirror-Oh
Yeah!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make The Change)
(You Gotta Get It Right, While
You Got The Time)
('Cause When You Close Your
Heart)
You Can't Close Your . . .Your
Mind!
(Then You Close Your . . .
Mind!)
That Man, That Man, That
Man, That Man
With That Man In The Mirror
(Man In The Mirror, Oh Yeah!)
That Man, That Man, That Man
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
You Know . . .That Man
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Oh Yeah!)
Gonna Feel Real Good Now!
Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Ooooh . . .)
Oh No, No No . . .
I'm Gonna Make A Change
It's Gonna Feel Real Good!
Come On!
(Change . . .)
Just Lift Yourself
You Know
You've Got To Stop It.
Yourself!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
I've Got To Make That Change,
Today!
Hoo!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Got To
You Got To Not Let Yourself . . .
Brother . . .
Hoo!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
You Know-I've Got To Get
That Man, That Man . . .
(Man In The Mirror)
You've Got To
You've Got To Move! Come
On! Come On!
You Got To . . .
Stand Up! Stand Up!
Stand Up!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Stand Up And Lift
Yourself, Now!
(Man In The Mirror)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aaow!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Gonna Make That Change . . .
Come On!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know . . .
(Change . . .)
Make That Change

Basically, in a nutshell this song tells you that if you want to make a change in the world you have to make a difference in the way you act first.
The first verse is just an introduction to the song. He's saying that he wants to and is going to make a change.
The second verse is about how he recognizes children are suffering and is wondering why he hasn't done anything about it. He turns up the collar on his favorite winter coat emphasizing that he has a coat but that not everyone else does too. He sees starving kids on the side of the street asking himself , Who am I pretending not to see their needs? How last summer all of this was ignored.
The chorus talks about how in order to change the world it is important to change your actions, because if you don't act the way you think the world should be, how can you change the worlds? MJ says that he's going to start with the man in the mirror which is obviously himself because when you look in the mirror you see yourself. MJ is asking him (himself) to change his ways, proving the point that if you want to make a change you have to start with yourself. He says that no message could have been any clearer. When he says this he means that to him what he had just said is obvious that it couldn't have been any clearer. Then he repeats himself and says,"If you want to make the world a better place, Then take a look at yourself, and then make a change.
The next verse speaks about how he is selfish and pretends that these people "Are not alone," both physically and mentally. He claims that he is selfish by saying,"It is time that I realize". He says that there are some with no home and then acts surprised asking,"Could it be really me, pretending that they're not alone?"
In the verse after that MJ talks about the kids' suffering. He talks about a willow that is deeply scarred, somebody's broken heart, and a washed-out dream. He clarifies that the kids have got no place to be and that's why he's starting with himself.
The rest of the song repeats the chorus, not exactly but it all means the same as the chorus. It all just talks about him starting with himself and making a change.

Song of the Day

Mean

Taylor Swift the American country pop country singer-songwriter came out with the hit song, "Mean". This song came out on March 7, 2011 and is in her album "Speak Now".It debuted number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and number ten on the Canadian Hot 100. "Mean" won the best country song at the 54th annual Grammy Awards.
Not everyone has always liked Taylor's singing though. In an interview with "60 Minutes"  Swift, she revealed that her song was about a about a critic who attacked her performance with Stevie Nicks at the 52nd Grammy Awards. This critic is Bob Leftsetz. On his blog, The Leftsetz Letter he complained about how Taylor sang off key and and other nasty comments. In another recent post, Leftsetz wrote about how he didn't care that "Mean" was about himself. He actually pleased because he didn't think that he was famous and that since Taylor took his criticism so seriously he was indeed a famous critic.
This song is a simple country song that's just trying to get a message across. As Taylor says, "There's constructive criticism, there's professional criticism, and then there's just being mean." This song also relates to bullying. In the music video there's a boy in the locker room reading a fashion magazine, getting pushed and shoved at, a girl in a fast food costume being laughed at, trying to raise money for college, and a girl's peers who are stopping her from sitting at the lunch table, forcing her to eat in the bathroom stall. In all of these cases the students are getting bullied.

Song of the Day

I Told you So

Karmin is the name of a duo that's members are a couple, named Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan. They started out just posting covers of themselves singing covers on Youtube and are know producing their own songs. One of those songs are "I Told you So", which will be available in the album, "Hello", which is also, another song that they wrote and have produced. "I Told you So" came out on May 9,2012 and is classified as Hip Hop. Nick described it as "Darker more hybrid rap song," and "A blazing rap and pop hook". The song starts with rapping, goes into hip hop, and then just goes back and forth between the two. Karmin even preformed this song live on "Saturday Night Live" on February 11,2012
This song is very fun and amusing to listen to because of the beat in the background and definitely because of the rapping. In the beginning of the song, it starts out with sirens and other sounds. When you think of Karmin you think of Amy's rapping because when she raps she just gets into it and you can just see that in Karmin's covers and music videos. It just sounds so real.Even if you're just listening to the radio and this song comes on you'll be able to tell. Lastly, the music video to this song has a little mystery going on it. Pay attention to Amy's flashbacks and the little details and what Nick (doctor/scientist) does while he's in his character. But most importantly listen to the song above everything. Song of the Day

Man in the Mirror

On January 9, 1988 Michael Jackson came at with the song "Man in the Mirror". The genre of this song is R&B, pop, and gospel. It's in his seventh solo album, "Bad" and was nominated he Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Also, it became the No.1 single in itunes downloads in the US and the UK.This song became the No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart after Jackson's death in June 25, 2009.
I could listen to this song over and over again because of the lyrics and background music. Firstly, the lyrics are very nicely worded and flow very easily, the whole song has a smooth vibe to it. A quote that he keeps repeating in the song is "Who am I, to be blind? Pretending not see their needs." Then, this song was recorded with a gospel choir singing in the background giving the song that distinctive sound.
The music video to this song doesn't really feature Michael Jackson until a scene at the end of the video. This video represents a very strong topic, which I believe to be very true.To watch the music video click on this link http://www.youtube.com/embed/PivWY9wn5ps?rel=0.

Song of the Day

Monster

Hayley Williams the lead singer of the band "Paramore" came out with the hit song "Monster". It is alternative rock and was released to digital download on June 7, 2011. This song was played in the movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", the third Transformers movie. It is the second single from the album ( "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" ) and was released to sale a week later, June 14, 2011. It was the first song that was produced without Josh and Zac Farro, the two former band members who separated from the group. On YouTube an audio of the song was posted and got over 1,000,000 views in the first three days of posting. Also, it won the Best Rock Track at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards and was the third best selling rock song in the UK as of 2011.
I love this song because of the background music. I know that's not something people think about when they like a song but I just feel that the background music compliments the sadness and longing in Hayley's voice. Also I really enjoy watching the music video and trying to figure out what it means. The video starts out with Hayley, and the other two band members, Taylor and Jeremy unconscious and floating on water. Hayley opens her eyes and begins to sing. The video then shows you the band singing in a concrete room. The next scene shows each of the band members alone and Hayley wandering through an abandoned hospital building. Lastly, it shows the band members kicking and punching the walls.

Song of the Day

Marilyn Monroe

Nicki Minaj the female rapper's song, "Marilyn Monroe" leaked onto the internet on February 6, 2012. It is from her new album, "Roman Reloaded" that is to be released on December 17, 2012. This mid-tempo song is considered pop rock. This song is much slower than what people are used to with Nicki Minaj's songs. Also, I know a lot of people don't listen to rappers because of their dirty language, but let me assure you this song has no curses! Actually the lyrics are very meaningful and talk about how she feels and then relates it to Marilyn Monroe asking if that was the way she felt.
I enjoy listening to this song because of its purity. It is a simple song that uses the lyrics as the main point of the song instead of letting the background music takeover. This I believe is good for slower songs like this, it is very calming. Nicki Minaj's voice is like the icing on the cake. Her signature sound is what prevents the song from boring and dull.

                                        Soulful Songs

Welcome

I love to listen to songs and I bet you or at least someone you know does too. I enjoy listening to rap, alternative rock, pop, sometimes country and a little bit of R&B. Songs inspire me and help me get my creative juices flowing when I need them to. If you enjoy listening to the same music as me and also become inspired by it too, then keep reading.

I will post a new song everyday, Monday to Friday, as my "Song of the Day." For the song of the day I will tell you a little about the song and then tell why I enjoy listening to it. Then on Saturday I will pick my favorite song out of the five and write the lyrics out for you. I will describe to you what I believe the lyrics mean and refer to and why I chose to pick this song. You can also write in the comments a song you would like me to do a song of the day about. I hope you all enjoy!
